Gilli's restless creativity and rebellious
nature continually urge her to push the envelope in the
studio, on stage
and with whatever she touches. Gilli, (pronounced like as with a 'j'), is
an illustrious, energetic poly-media artist and her multifaceted
albums
and dynamic, entertaining live shows have touched music lovers worldwide
garnering high praise from the most jaded of critics.

With music as her passion, gilli is equally thrilled when she is on stage
or behind a camera as an
actress. Her acting began at the age of 8 in
local school theatre, especially in comedic and musical
theater roles. As a child
she was always the one in her circle of friends to create plays and get
everyone to perform in them with her on a regular basis. At the same time
she excelled in drama, modern dance and piano (she began classical piano
at 4 years old and to this day it inspires her rock music, which she has
become quite well known for in the music industry.)
Oliver in "Oliver" (I know they couldn’t
find the right “guy”!), Dorothy in the "Wizard of Oz", Liesl in the "Sound
of Music" and the Narrator in "Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat" are
just some of her musical theater roles in Australia. In the States, Gilli has
done numerous one woman shows with her songs across the country, for
several years, as well as
hosted a music “TV style” Internet show for a
year for the non-profit organization, Songsalive!, which she created.
In 1992 gilli set flight to
New York City,
with her eyes on Broadway. There, she worked in theater as an assistant
stage manager for an off-Broadway 'modern Hamlet' style play called "The
Best Part". While in New York she began writing a musical
based on the entertainment industry, plus a series of original
songs for the score and for her first CD album. She spent 3 months
auditioning for Broadway shows and off-Broadway plays, but she decided to travel
to Rome Italy to continue her writing.
While in Italy, she landed a job of a
lifetime as assistant producer to the Opera "Tosca" which was televised
live around the world to 144 countries, and starred Placido Domingo, with
Zubin Mehta conducting.
Various short films, theatre roles, voice over and music came next, back
in Australia, until she became restless again and in search of the bright
lights. Los Angeles, California has been, to date, the best base for gilli
moon. Home for the last 10 years, gilli has produced
6 albums of her
music, continues her musical and film script writing, and has
written a
book for all artists and actors about surviving and succeeding in the
business, called "I AM A Professional Artist".
Over the past 10 years, gilli moon's music
career trajectory has been increasing steadfast with her
non-stop touring
across the United States, her album releases as a music artist, and as an
independent record company owner. Last year she was interviewed in
Newsweek Magazine for her tenacity
with the Internet.
The eternal chameleon in artistry and
thought, gilli moon has received numerous print and online press reviews
for her courage, power and dynamic energy as an artist and inspiration for
other artists, has won many awards and has worked with other highly
respected prominent artists. In 2003 gilli began to combine her music and
her love of theatre. She created her first
One Woman Show which is a 1
hour music, song and monologue show about her life as an artist, woman,
troubadour and adventurer. She began to tour the United States now 4
times, and Australia, with her One Woman Show and released a CD called
"Woman" as part of the project. She has been invited to put on her One
Woman Show in New York.
Also, as life really does do full circles,
gilli landed a unique position as featured performer (using her music and
comic experience) and stage director (combining her left and right brain
talents) for Eric Idle's "Greedy Bastard Tour". Eric Idle, from
Monty
Python, with gilli in the cast, toured the United States and Canada for 3
months in '03, delivering a 2 hour show of comedy and song to 3000+ seater
theaters and venues.
Gilli has studied at NIDA, Sydney, the
Howard Fine Studios and
Groundlings in Los Angeles in various short term
courses, interwoven into the fabric of her extensive and busy professional
life.
Future plans? gilli is exploring creative
opportunities for more film acting in her life, and combining music with
her performances. She has also been
continuing to develop her one
woman show, plus she’s adding the finishing touches to her first major
motion film script about her experiences in the music industry, which will
be a musical film. She releases her 6th
album in 2010 and a second artist motivational
handbook, "Just Get Out
There".
