Behind
the piano, she was a volcano, erupting in emotions most of us would
keep inside. Moon tinkled, pounded and got more music from the keys
than is usually heard and her voice, ahhhh, it ranged from angelic
to angry and everything in between. Her banter between songs was
full of wit and vinegar,
which the audience loved.
There's something distinctly Bowie-driven about gilli
moon...
Like listening to a female Scary
Monsters,
with a dose more vulnerability and greater
sound.
Moon exposes her soul and
what a wondrous soul she is. Confident one minute and fragile the next, she
swells with sensuality. Great music that could rock you, mock
you and sock it to you with heartfelt romantic lyrics veiled as poetry set to
throb-rock funky soul sister guitars oozing textures like a painter's canvas, kundalini rising basslines and powertripping keyboards ala elton john or billy
joel in the early days and those intense vocals that reached out like thing's
hand and grabbed you by the throat where you were usually choking back tears... She’s very much a pure
performance artist, I’ve never seen any one do what she does onstage. She
really belts out the ballads…, I was impressed by the way she moves on stage –
she’s got all the moves…

moon perform is truly a multi-dimensional experience that pleasantly feeds your
eyes, mind and ears all at once. Moon is constantly inspired to create. As her
music builds and takes form, she creates her own unique paintings on an amazing
glass canvas, all the while singing and performing with tremendous beauty and
grace.

moon used her body, aura, sensuality and voice to tease and entice everyone.
Gilli and her warriors lit up the
stage with a provocative mix of pop and jazz with a slightly political punk
twist. Ever theatrical, outspoken and with an extremely dynamic, extensive and
expressive vocal range, she’s all about girl power, sexuality and peace. Their
set was upbeat and danceable, sprinkled with passionate keyboards, guitar solos,
jams and guest vocals. Lots of energy, very steamy set!
Gilli shows a
maturity of style and voice that's profound, she speaks to the bare emotions
of love, hate, empowering sensuality and hand-tying vulnerability in all of
us..... her whispery, lilting upper register brings to mind a young Kate
Bush, mixed with the angst of Alanis Morissette.. a wide swatch of styles and
confessions. Gilli Moon performing solo with piano and voice.
Powerful, sensuous, arty ... it reminded me a little of when I saw Tori Amos
solo several years ago. Gilli's CD also made me think of her as a female

At the risk of sounding sexist! I have never placed sexuality or sensuality
in front of music. I still haven't but I introduce all of
you to gilli moon, a wonderfully talented musician, artist, and writer. She also
uses sensuality to make a statement, and that statement is to grab our attention
long enough so you can realize that a huge talent awaits. A soft keyboard melody
greeted the waiting fans as the curtain goes up to take us "SWIMMING" through a
heartfelt ballad of loss. The stage is full of ambient stage props. Aboriginal
influenced art is hung all around and in the corner behind the keys sits the
Temperamental Angel herself playing a plaintiff opening solo to accompany her
pure and soulful singing. As the song ends Gilli sinks out of site as the rest
of her troupe emerges onstage and takes their place. Gilli can be seen slowly
crawling through the maze of instruments and wires to the middle of the stage
where a white canvas leans against the kick drum. Gilli makes beginning strokes
on a work in progress as the troupe strikes up the band. Now the fun begins as Gilli Moon performs the title track "Temperamental
Angel," an emotion filled, spine tingling, toe tapping composition with an eerie
discordant bass line hook. Working her way to her feet, throwing down her wings
to hopping up and down all around, I see a vibrant artist who puts everything
she has into her music.
During faster instrumentals Gilli begins a second painting on a clear Plexiglas
surface set on an easel at the front stage left side. Gilli uses the slower more
tender songs to lie on the floor to continue painting on the canvas. With a
wonderful breathy quality Gilli shares her life of "PLENTY" followed by the
admission that she likes getting "NAKED" with you. Continuing on, Gilli takes
the up tempo tick tock of "TIME" to hickory doc before jumping into a powerful
display by a woman scorned in the "DISGRACE" of a lover that's never satisfied.
Gilli completely turns it around with the insecurities of a woman who doesn't
understand "WHY DO YOU LOVE ME STILL?" I fell in love and so will you. She must
have gotten over it because she proceeds to invite you to "TOUCH ME," I won't be
offended. I hope not because Gilli is a real turn on. She is definitely "ALIVE"
and kicking and you should see Gilli Moon solo on piano.
Her star quality added
immense success to our shows and our audience was overwhelmed.

Passionate, insightful, sensual... She can take a
song any place she wants, and she does just that, singing sweet whispers one
minute, and screaming rock the next. Her themes strike many different chords
that touch everyone deeply and moving them to actions that can only be
described as ballistic. Her writing is smart, sensitive and perceptive in a
style all her own... This is a performer who's comfortable with both herself and her talent,
and the chemistry between her and the other band members is as good as you're
likely to see... Moon's songwriting gives anyone else in her genre a run for their
money.. There's a new light in the sky and it's gilli moon.

Australia can't keep her down there forever.
