living room sessions

eclectic mix of artists from all walks of life...

"i remember the bohemian life, the eclectic circle of artists sharing, being, loving, expressing.. poetry, spoken word, splashes of art, different music tones, djs spinning the vinyl, and i read books on zen, freedom and philosophy. i used the walk the streets of SoHo NY, hopping from bar to bar, absorbing the art, the night life the jazz, the beats. i miss those days of imagination....but let's bring them back ... to Los Angeles... where art is created for art sake... a full night of interesting art and music, in a space that's open to artists expressions, with nice tea, comfy couches and time to chat, listen, groove and just be. the recorder is taping , the camera is on, the mic is on 1,2,3 .. step outside and into gilli moon's living room sessions... without a doubt, the place to be..." - gilli moon

Warrior Girl Music (www.warriorgirlmusic.com) and Australian artist gilli moon (www.gillimoon.com ) present an eclectic array of music and spoken word artists from all walks of life, in the comforts of intimate venues around town. The nights are called "the living room sessions" which fit the ambience of the venue and the style of relaxed, cool and eclectic entertainment offered. First Thursdays of the month.

Artists include a selection from the Females On Fire CD, singer/songwriters from Songsalive!', spoken word poets, dancers and painters, AND the ever eclectic artist GILLI MOON herself, with her favorite fellow musician mavericks lighting up the stage. Watch the magic unfold as if in your very own living room

Warrior Girl Music is open to hearing from artists who are interested in performing, and who fit the vibe and style of the new living room session nights. Females on Fire artists (www.femalesonfire.com) and Songsalive! members (www.songsalive.org) are given first preference. Conditions apply to perform (read below). Upcoming performances here

performing conditions

1. You must not have a gig within 1 week before and after your performance in order to be eligible to play (that's a two week radius)

2. Songsalive! members get preferred booking. www.songsalive.org/join

3. Artists will be performing anywhere between 3 songs to a half hour set depending on your local following (encore dependant on crowd response.) We reserve the right to decide your performance length and time.

4. We encourage eclectic music and entertainment. You may combine theatre, spoken word, art, dance, etc. This is your opportunity to deliver more than any other club has allowed before in this town.

5. There is no performance fee for local artists and we do our best to provide tips and treats for touring artists. Artists can have a merch table to sell your product and you keep 100% of your sales. You will also be highly promoted through the WGM and Songsalive! networks plus the local media. If you become an ongoing WGM performer and you bring a large crowd, we will throw a $ bonus.

6. It is imperative that you bring at least 5-10 people, to the show. If you do not bring a minimum, you will not be invited back until your numbers increase.

7. You will most probably be playing acoustically so be prepared for that. Some artists will have the opportunity to play amped, depending on set length and your local following.

If you are interested in the above, apply here

Do you want to host a Living Room Session in your home? Here's how.
a) pick a great night when gilli is available

b) your living room, your porch, your backyard... all works! Piano provided would be super but not essential. Enough space for at least 15 people if not more. You don't need to be an expert, just a music fan. There is great satisfaction from hosting something like this as it helps indie artists and you get great music in your home.

c) gilli moon is your central headliner but you can ask other artists to perform. She might be able to help you find artists too. Keep it acoustic. You don't need a P.A but it can be helpful.

d) Make a donation for all friendly attendees to pay. This all goes to the artists, plus any CDs they sell. The donation should be between $10 and $20. Sometimes a guarantee to the artist helps (e.g $200 guaranteed (minimum 20 people @ $10 each) and if you don't get the numbers, the artist still gets paid. You get to feel what it's like to risk like any promoter, for the love of your artist.

e) the name Living Room Session is a gilli moon working trademark, and can only be used in conjunction with shows you create with her, and not for your own shows.

Contact us if interested.

Hey Gilli & Toni..
We REALLY enjoyed the Living Room on Sunday..what a great concept..thanks
for including us! Gilli..you were awesome! It was fun to see you perform more than two songs..you move so beautifully and each piece is an entirely different artistic offering, can't wait for the next show I'll be able to see.. Toni your "cool" made everyone feel good and happy in a situation where other people would have gone "agro" as they say here in Cali..yes..better too few than too many chairs..definitely a good sign.. So we wanted to let you know that the spirits were with us that night..we have wonderful tapes of the evening Peace & keep well,
Bridget
