“…Music production is a whole language in itself, beyond
just being a musician. i've always been a communicator, what
with being an artist, teacher and writer, but producing is
like being a conductor, a messenger, a voyeur, and
conducting the chatter from the Gods.
Producing
is not about ego, or personal subjectivity. I can only be
the "translator" of what the song is calling out for… a
conduit. Plus it’s almost like remembering… whenever I get
the right feel or vibe for a particular part, I get this
weird “ah ha” or “deja-vu” moment as if the song had once
found that perfection, but forgot it.
It's
really, really exciting delving into the psychology of
producing. We become slaves to the song and what it
requires, and living on the edge like a spiritual
thrill-seeker. It’s also about being rebellious. Being a
rebel to the current times, to the past, to whatever anyone
else is doing out there or what radio dishes out. It’s about
being rebellious even to our own taste, and finding the
freedom in creating something new and cutting edge, even if
it means taking risks. I crave it! It’s better than an
extreme sport (even though I love fast down-hill snow skiing
at the best of times!)”

gilli moon has produced several
artist's albums including her own through Warrior
Girl Music. Gilli's mission is to create
unique artistic creations that are guided by the artist's
vision and under the artist's direction; creations that
transcend race, age or gender and that embrace passion, love
for music and life, personal excellence and global
consciousness. It is gilli's mission to
develop artists to their fullest potential as individuals and
creative beings.
the process
(1) 3 Pre-Production meetings
/ consultations.
This is
where you bring your songs, work tape/cd of the song(s), your artistic
vision and ideas to decide on the style, sounds, keys and direction of
your studio process and songs. We also discuss musicians, budgets,
studios and overall schedule. Finally, your songs are arranged so
that the songwriting is improved and massaged to be the best they can
possibly be, plus some tips and tools on your total artist direction.
If you live out of Los Angeles, you can do this via mail, internet and
phone.
(2) Attend production sessions in L.A. where you can oversee the recording
We
record out of Burbank, CA, home to the entertainment industry's top
studios and where most of the top 10 hit songs and films are made for
the world. Latest gear, technology and non-intimidating space for you to
create a great album under the guidance and direction of Gilli Moon
(producer) and her engineer.
We work in Protools with
up to 192k 24 bit 5.1 Advance
Surround Mixing with Protools HD.
Room for live drums and up to 8 piece orchestra at one time. Piano,
keyboards and several guitars/basses available on hand.
(3) Receive a
complete master, ready to take it out to the world
We give you all session files plus a final master, (optional mastering in New York) ready for you to
create your album or send to radio.

A)
DEMO QUALITY
Pre-production:
$100 for 1 Pre Production consultation session (This is imperative.
We cannot go into the studio cold. Besides, you will not only be totally
prepared for studio recording, but you get your song arranged)
Production:
$700 for Production of 1 song demo, engineer/musicians/loops and session singer (if nec.). Conditions apply.

B)
ALBUM QUALITY
Pre-production:
$300 for the total of 3 Pre Production consultation sessions which include song/album direction, artist vision, song arrangements, studio and musician scheduling.
(This is taking in consideration that you have supplied
ready-to-go charts for musicians to read. If you need charts
written, this will take some extra time.)
Production:
$90/hour. This includes producer, engineer and studio time for an album ready and radio quality song. This does not include musicians and vocalists, but they usually hire out at
approx $50-100 a song, depending on number of songs and length of session. All these details are ironed out in the pre-production session. To give you an idea of how long a song takes, depends on how many songs you do. Doing 3-6 songs at once will
minimize musician costs as tracking is done on the same day for all songs for each instrument. Studio days are roughly 6-8 hour days. tracking all instrumentation and vocals for 3-6 songs usually takes approximately 7-10 days, plus allow 5-6 hours per
song to mix. You do the math, or let's work it out together in our first session.
