In tune with her inner self,  gilli moon is creative, artistic, and very in tune with her inner self. Most of her songs come from her life experiences, whether it’s love or self-fulfillment. gilli moon sends a good message in her songs of clarity, love, happiness, and acceptability. Her songs are relatable to the common individual who might be struggling to find acceptance and looking at putting the pieces of the puzzle that is their life. Our fast paced daily lives are filled with so much clutter and confusion that we forget to stop and appreciate what we have, appreciate the beauty around us, the people that fill our lives with happiness. gilli moon’s songs allow us to do just that.

Listener reviews on iTunes:

Such a VOICE! by jopeachiz - Gilli's music is full of sweetness!! Her voice and the melodies are so kind and warm, I enjoy listening to this Album at ANY time of day, but especially at night to relax to her sultry woos.

Sweet album! -  by Sarah Tudzin This is a very fun easy listen. There are some excellent tracks, including several pop ballads. Gilli Moon is really heartfelt and talented, I would suggest this record to all of my friends!

gilli moon's patient "the stillness" is quite polarising on first listen. There are straight up and down pop numbers like Be  to quite progressive moments like the ominous Moon. Truly eclectic, it's a wearer that may never stop evolving to your ears.

Windy City Times, (Pop Making Sense) Chicago
On the passionate song "Be," gilli moon shows her cards as she sings, "I'm a hopeless romantic." This foreshadows the beautiful "Cos I Love You So," "Cling On" and "Secret of My Heart." Her latest, The Stillness, the singer-songwriter shines on ballads and mid-tempo numbers, but she brings the house down with the gospel-flavored epic "Silent Prophet." Moon's sixth album also features the pop goodie "I Am" and the environmentally conscious "Bushwalk." Just try not to be charmed by her Australian accent at the end of "I'm Alive."  On top of being a gifted musician, the Los Angeles-based moon also heads her own label Warrior Girl Music and found music-focused non-profit organization Songsalive!. The Stillness is out now.

gilli moon is an Aussie singer/songwriter with a big, beautiful voice and a penchant for pop hooks and easily consumed melodies. Inspiring lyrics and great musicianship make this release a pop album that stands out from the uninspired and mediocre pop riddling the radios these days. Comparisons to Alanis Morissette and Lily Allen would not be off the mark in describing the emotion, cleverness, and soul of the stillness. Called “a female Elton John” by Billboard, gilli’s use of great piano work makes this reviewer quite happy (note that Ben Folds and Billy Joel both creep into my top artists list). A solid album cover to cover, but if the first several tracks, notably the trio of “Be”, “I Am”, and “Outside In”, don’t reel you in wanting more, you are probably deaf.

Ramblings of a Girl/UK
the stillness is Australian Gilli Moon’s sixth album and plays home to fourteen tracks which each shine in their own way. Opening with Conversation With Me, Moon’s soothing vocals demonstrate her natural ability that compliment the piano playing. I Am is a stand out track for me - the chorus is full of optimism and charisma, emphasising the happiness behind the song. Cling On similarly pleases me with the far softer vocals and slower tempo. The ‘haunting’ track of the album is Days In November. Background vocals and a repetitive chorus may often be seen as flaws in a song, yet here they serve to reinforce the strength of Moon’s vocals. It’s floaty without hitting the extreme airiness that Imogen Heap overwhelms me with. Before I listened to Cos I Love You So, I assumed it would be cutesy pop. I was proven wrong with this track and its powerful chorus that some may say - OK, so my mum was listening to it and made a comment - sounds like Madonna. And that’s not a criticism by any means. All in all it’s a strong album from the Aussie. Her vocals and lyrics are well paired and always matched with instruments that allow her voice to take centre stage.

the stillness represents a grown-up woman, able to share her thoughts about life, society and how to survive them. Gilli Moon’s got charming innocence and independence written all over her. Albeit a safe area for many singer/songwriters, Moon shines out the most on her ballads. Opener ‘Conversation with Me’ and ‘Secret of my Heart’ for instance, shows Moon’s charm on top of her game. At times as innocent as a Disney film, at other times more Shakira goes pop music, Moon’s voice is the main factor on this album. Lyrically, she’s ambitious in that she wants to lift people up with her social observations….her voice makes the journey of listening to her life completely worth it.

The Jersey Shore review
Receiving the new album, “the stillness,” in the mail was more than like receiving a new collection of songs from an artist. It was like receiving a piece of gilli moon in the mail. While the production values were at an extremely high level, it is the lyrics to these pieces of her inner soul that take this project to a higher level. From the first note of “Conversation With Me,” this piano-driven song was screaming for a top ten chart position. “I had a revelation, as I fell asleep last night. A true illumination that put a spotlight on my life,” sings Moon. This pensiveness continues right into the second song, “Be,” as J. Walker adds a little hip hop vocal into the mix. Walker, a spoken word / hip hop artist, appears a few times on the album. Last year, gilli moon released an album with J. Walker entitled “Skillz.” Other highlights for me on the album are “I Am,” “Cos I Love You So,” “Secret Of My Heart” and “Silent Prophet.” I love the way “I Can Touch The Sun” showcases Moon’s voice, with just a little finger snapping behind her, until the piano kicks in unobtrusively. With very tight musicianship backing her up, gilli moon produced the album, with some help from Matt Thorne and Richard Harris. Moon is an author, an entrepreneur, a producer and a visual artist, as well. You can purchase her CD or find out more about her by visiting www.gillimoon.com. Her music reminds me of a cross between Alanis Morissette and Carole King. Very much like her visual artistry, her music also paints a picture of hope, a picture of inner strength. She is indeed a warrior!

My Dad Rocks (UK) review
gilli moon is an Multi-talented Australian singer/songwriter now based in Hollywood. In fact the term Poly-media has been attributed to her as she is not just a pianist, songwriter and singer, but also a visual artist, painter, and author. She has twice won the Best Solo Artist at the L.A Rock City Music Awards and honoured with the “Outstanding Contribution as an Artist” award by the Artists For A Better World and her 6th album "the stillness" is now released. Being compared to Alanis Morrisette can be a double edged sword but on "the stillness" she creates a sound of her own with her powerful voice providing uplifting and catchy melodies interspersed with morose and soulful tunes. "the stillness" takes the listener on a journey through Gilli's love stories, life lessons and observations of the world. Love it or not, you can't help but admire it. Assisting Gilli are:- Andy Catt - bass, Shawn Cunnane - guitar, Frank Musarra - drums, Voyce McGinley - drums, Amy Lou - percussion, J.Walker - spoken word. You can sample the tracks on the album on www.myspace.com/gillimoon  or www.gillimoon.com. In support of her outstanding sixth album "the stillness", Award winning Australian artist gilli moon has recently released her brand new video for Days In November. Filmed whilst on tour, Days In November captures life on the road through Gilli’s eyes.

This love shines through on Gilli’s latest release "the stillness". Structurally the song writing is consistent with the premise of the prose; soft whispers of new age trance building to progressive rock finales. I’m Alive and Days In November were my favorite tracks on the album which has a continued lyrical theme of thoughtful meditation. ....ebbing between frenzy and stillness; .....I felt the lyrics were particularly strong on Silent Prophet and a good example of what to expect from The Stillness as a whole: “We are here to live our lives/with nothing to prove but to carry the water well/and heal the holes/bury the old/and when you can’t see what the future will bring/Just call the silent prophet within/I’m calling…”  Read entire review

 WOMENSRADIO, by Brian Ball
Have you ever really been impressed by a songwriter? Now, most people will say, “yes, I have”, but on what merits are they basing their answer? Perhaps the beat or the hook, but are they really taking into account commonly overlooked qualities such as the structure, history or vision of the songwriter; and if they are, it must then indicate that the writer has truly done their job well. It’s not often that this fast paced, sped-up world allows us to take a step back and truly appreciate another’s work, but when these moments do present themselves, it is commonly beyond our verbal capacity to show an accurate amount of appreciation for these worldly gifts. Long-time WomensRadio favorite, Australian, Hollywood-based singer-songwriter gilli moon, has not only created a masterpiece of an album on soon-to-be-released, The Stillness, but she has tapped into an unsurpassed level of greatness on her 6th release since 1998. Prepare to enter the stillness of gilli moon, where the only thing moved is the listener.

From the opening moments of “Conversation With Me”, gilli’s golden voice radiates a much-needed warmth in an often-times chilly contemporary setting, while at the same time spinning a delicate-yet-soulful and full-bodied take on pop music that comes across as more self-empowering than commercial in stature.

Uplifting and uniquely blended hints of Americana, shoegaze and rock are carefully woven throughout “Be”, while production takes center stage on the feel good Friday favorite, “I Am”, which propels the listener into the weekend, past Monday and all the way back around into next week, next month and further out into the ether of time and space itself.

We had the distinct pleasure of previewing “Outside In” last August in Nashville at the Pitch-a-Song panel during the 2009 Indiegrrl Conference at Hotel Preston, and are excited to see that the song is seeing a proper release this June. Elements of jazz and classic rock intermingle in gilli’s alt. pop/singer-songwriter perspective, while naturalistic vibes are grown in abundance, flourishing and taking the listener on a hegira not to be forgotten.

Our (hands down) favorite track on The Stillness would have to be the title track ("The Stillness"), which sweetly whispers smooth & soulful nothings into the listener’s ears as experimental soundscapes swirl through the air on this lazy summer afternoon jam that takes trip hop to a level comparable to “Morcheeba meeting Michael Jackson in a Rhymesayers studio session”. The addition of male vocals add a level of robustness that can only be conceived by the genius that is known to the world as singer-songwriter, recording artist, music producer and global community builder, gilli moon.

Funk, disco and chillout grooves pop up, while hip-hop beats and male vocals return on “Cos I Love You So”, which is amazing in its own right, but at the same time we have a sneaking suspicion that if the stems were opened up via a remix contest, we may just hear something that would take the electronic music world by storm. Jus sayin.

If the previous fifty seven minutes didn’t completely captivate the listener, the last three and a half (“I Can Touch The Sun”) ensure total satisfaction. Take a song that is mostly a cappella, aside from thumb snaps and the introduction of the ivories halfway through, but uses the vocal instrument in brilliantly-arranged harmonies and barbershop-esque back-up's to place itself on par with the songwriting competency of many past greats; creating what could have easily been one of the best-selling records of the 70's…

“Life is like a drug for gilli moon, and the passion that courses through the veins of ‘The Stillness’ is the same life-blood that created the pyramids, brought humankind to outer-space and fathomed individual expression through the arts. Simply stated, Ms. moon has tapped into Maya, and is here to share it with all who are open and receptive.”

I discovered Gilli Moon‘s great talents through this new album, music is one of the arts where she’s performing with her great voice, also every word have a place. My favorite’s songs are “Conversation With Me”,”Cos I Love You So”, “Silent Prophet” . Don’t miss to take time to listen to the whole album; you won’t loose your time.

After nearly three years on the road promoting her most recent record, Australian transplant Gilli Moon submerged herself in a Los Angeles studio for more than a year to record her fourth album, extraOrdinary life. It’s hard to classify this collection of autobiographical songs and stories that collectively paint an extraordinary tapestry of sound. Electronic drum loops and grooves create the frame within which Gilli paints pictures with words she passionately delivers with a voice that is both technically excellent and emotionally transparent. Bizarre sounds and electronic plug-ins and effects bring surprises and add to the magic without overpowering the organic feel of the record. Live musicians make the album beat with humanity. Additionally, this enhanced CD features a 10-minute behind-the-scenes “Making of the Video,” and a 20-photo slide show embracing the album. A very worthy purchase from a mover and shaker in the indie music scene. ~ by Jennifer Corday

LOOSEYLUCY'S HEADQUARTERS
While you can hear a hint of Tori Amos influence to her music, Gilli Moon does not fit into the mold of the typical female singer/pianist.  Her auto-biographical, extraOrdinary life, is a testament to her life thus far and a showcase of her own groovy style of alternative/R&B music.  The production is excellent, and the songs are beautifully arranged.  Gilli even picks up the didgeridoo, beat boxes, and sings a version of her song, "Bye Is Such A Lonely Word" in Italian.  Album highlights include a spoken word piece, "Deconstruction," the catchy "Evolution," "Little Boy Lost," and the pop/surf-influenced, "The Wind."  The enhanced CD format has a video with interview, live performance, and music video clips as well as a slideshow featuring pictures and music of Gilli.  extraOrdinary life is possibly one of the best independently released albums of late 2005. "Every so often an artist exceeds expectations. They create a piece of work that is so exquisite, it’s breathtaking. gilli moon has taken that quantum leap with her latest album, extraOrdinary life. It’s an epic endeavor from an artist already well known for her independent and adventurous spirit. Indeed, this album covers a wide range of styles and emotions that touch every aspect of our lives. Though reviewers, as well as fans, will probably mention comparisons to Tori Amos, Sting and Radiohead, Moon has instilled this record with such a strong sense of self that one gets the impression she’s letting us in on her secret life – an extraordinary one at that. Starting with the title track, Moon takes listeners on a remarkable journey through exotic and unpredictable soundscapes. With songs such as “Release Me,” “Evolution,” “Bye Is Such A Lonely Word,” and the unforgettable “Hollywood,” she has stacked this album with enough hit material to get her plenty of attention. Though, at times, the scope of her vision is challenging, it's always compelling; and, Moon’s vocals have never been better. What’s most surprising, however, is her preternatural ability to make her lyrics intimate yet universal. In fact, this body of work reaches the ultimate level of craftsmanship with “Enchanted Forest” and “My Extraordinary Life” expanding the boundaries of songwriting as we know it. This is an album that is best heard in its entirety. Not because of any overall concept, but rather  because it’s a beautiful expedition of emotions and stories that comfort, excite and inspire. Indeed, after hearing the songs presented on this record, you wouldn’t be faulted if “you” also wanted to lead  - an extraordinary life."

It’s been six years since I first discovered and reviewed gilli moon’s  amazing self-titled debut, “Girl in the Moon.” Since then, I’ve given four stars to her 2000 disc, “Temperamental Angel” and 2002 release, “Woman.” It’s amazing to me that with her fourth CD -- and another four-star outing -- moon is still releasing her always-evocative, ever-exciting work on an independent label that she formed herself (and has since released several discs on by other artists as well). An amazing creative force, both as a singer and songwriter, gilli moon ought to be in the big leagues by now, touring with the likes of Alanis and Tori Amos... Nevertheless, she IS thankfully recording and making music, because it is a rare treat to listen to a CD with the color, emotion and depth of extraOrdinary life The 15-song disc opens with its title track, where she invites the listener in to celebrate with her the journey that is her “extraordinary life.” It’s a tour de force of moon’s extraordinary musical talents – the song opens with a low, cool sinuous bass and contemplative vocal, and slowly builds, the textures broadening and increasing in energy until by the end, there’s a wall of pounding piano, crunchy guitar, belting backup vocals and an amazing feeling of … positivity, victory, as moon sings of the things she’s learned on her journey: “between the black and the white/I find clarity.” In “Hollywood,” she crafts a beautifully taut “missing you” ballad about her personal deal with the devil (she was born in Italy and grew up in Australia but these days spends most of her time in L.A. building her career). The song is dominated by a gently percussive piano as she sings of being away from the one you love in order to succeed at the goals of your life: “So I landed in Hollywood…she sings, “I dreamed all of these years, and worked through my fears/to be the best I can be…but my inward heart is torn apart…I don’t wanna be wasting my time/without you by my side/in Hollywood.” Then in “Evolution,” she switches to a percussive acoustic guitar strut as she sings about the difference between one’s private self, and public persona (“I’m a riot in my own living room,” she notes). One of the disc’s standout tracks comes in “Circus of Life,” a pounding bass-dominated track about moving down life’s road without slowing and settling down.   “I don’t wanna die in the suburbs,” she sings, extolling the virtues of roaming the skies and the seas in search of new experience (“life’s gift is improvisation,” she sings). Another perfect ballad comes in the salsa percussion and Spanish guitar strains of the gorgeous “Bye is Such a Lonely Word,” which she reprises at the end of the disc sung in her native Italian.  She strums out an upbeat acoustic guitar anthem in “We Can Work It Out” and then takes a big risk in “Deconstruction,” a spoken word piece with ambient background music. The risk pays off, because while spoken word poetry can often sound too precious and pretentious, this piece is both personal and universal, as moon admits, “I’m feeling tender in my convictions” and asks “can there be two hearts that beat like one?” She goes on to invite her listeners into her world, noting “many paths I’ve traveled many roads have led me here…I’ve lived a thousand years and spoken with devils and angels…” and “Past, present, future it’s one delicious glass of wine…jump into my extra ordinary, extraordinary life.” The disc hits its key message and most upbeat rocking track in the penultimate “The Wind,” where she sings “I’ll take it as it comes” atop a rollicking bass and squalling horns, in a head-bobbing frenzy of Spanish rhythm and personal affirmation. If you’ve never heard of gilli moon, it’s high time you did. You won’t see her bringing her piano and seductively personal vocal stylings to the Tweeter Center this year, but she ought to be. She is the real deal – a consummate poet, performer, and songstress.

COLLECTED SOUNDS
I've reviewed two of Gilli Moon's previous albums and am happy to note that this new one is good too. It's more radio-friendly and groove-oriented than the others. The opener "My Extraordinary Life" gets us in the mood with a slinky groove and a cool vocal. "Between the black and the white I find clarity" she sings. The reflective "Hollywood" reminds me of an in-tune Madonna. "Evolution" is an inspired track with a special melody and odd instrumental touches. The soulful and yearning "Spaceship" is mystical and sophisticated. The scope of this record is wider than anything Moon has done before and she seems to be leading an extraordinary life.

J Walker is a spoken word artist and teacher, Gilli Moon is a songwriter. Their collaboration uses hip-hop to try and reach kids with a positive message. The self-explanatory "It's Cool To Be Smart" works the message in assisted by strong beats. "Beautiful" sees Moon singing of learning to be true to yourself despite the pressures of the outside world. Walker's rap adds a nice contrast to the vocal. "Why You Wanna Fight" gets the message of anti-violence across well. Walker has an impressive vocal flow and the beats are good. "Dan The Man" tells of a guy lost in drug abuse and missing out on life. Walker and Moon do a good job of getting to the point. It's a hard genre to tackle, but these two make it work. Their message couldn't be better which is cool also.

JACKY GLEESON, Australia
What is it about gilli moon? Here she is with a new record after the exceptional diversity and success of “Temperamental Angel” and it’s almost like Angel came out just last week. But no – it’s been more than a year now and I am at a loss as to how good “Woman”, on gilli’s own Warrior Girl Music label, really is. Reading my review of Angel, I could probably just cut and paste that across to this one. But no, I will resist the temptation and, like gilli, come up with something new. The record progresses like one of those 1970s concept albums… it has a prologue “Real – The Opening Ceremony” and an epilogue “Home,” it celebrates gilli’s femininity by roaring I Am (A) Woman and effortlessly moves as many emotions and genres as there are images and effigies of the woman herself. It’s a credit to anyone who can uproot themselves as gilli did all those years ago and, after the success she so richly deserves, to still maintain the artistic ingenuity, indie street-cred and seriously good music making ideas instead of letting the so-called City of Angels sucked them out of her like so many other artists (music or otherwise) who have found themselves on the wrong side of the Pacific. It rocks heavily, it sways gently, it even has a short John Cage-esque moment to keep you guessing. gilli moon is a wonderful artist – musically and otherwise. Anyone who has been privy to a live performance (alas – I am but one of the unlucky ones who have not) will be able to support this claim, as will anyone who has any of her other records (even the one she doesn’t talk about). Hopefully, these words won’t be needed to sell this record, as it will move itself. “Woman” through Warrior Girl Music: to label it with a mere star-rating would be an injustice…  PG (Jacky) Gleeson

* * * * (4 stars) This singer-musician-poet-painter is going to be a superstar, at least she should be, and TE readers can claim her as their own. Moon may reside in Los Angeles but she grew up in the Wollombi Valley. This, her second album, is as multi-faceted as the title suggests. Moon exposes her soul on this record and what a wondrous soul she is. Confident one minute and fragile the next, she swells with sensuality while striding between Kate Bush-inspired pop, rock and jazz. Moon strips down a cover of the INXS hit Need You Tonight that will leave you breathless.. or breathing heavy.

The 18 tracks on this, her second album show diversity, ranging from moody acoustic pieces to energised electro remixes, and Moon's vocal versatility is evident as she adapts to the varying styles with apparent ease. She defines a sonic space that is all her own on the haunting second track I'm Calling You, as well as on her sensual interpretation of the INXS classic I Need You Tonight. As the title would suggest, the lyrical content touches predominantly on feminine issues, stretching from sexuality to self empowerment. - Steve Perin

There's the unstoppably coy "Do Ya Wanna?" and my favorite track, the stomping, tribal "Bop to the Rhythm." Dreams Never End
I guess it´s the first time we have to deal with an artist who has been compared to Jackson Pollock, the painter and perhaps it is the first time (well not really....) we are dealing with such a strong album! But let's begin with the begin... Warrior Girl Music is the label set up by Gilli Moon and you don't have to be an expert to understand what's it all about...this is a sort of tribute for women who did their own thing in rock. Not the kind of spirit from women who decide it´s time to raise a fist as feminism in rock isn´t needed simply as here in my collection I have tons of female artists and I can only say : feminists already started from the 70´s...how else can I see artists like Kate Bush or Carly Simon? But good, let's call "Woman" a sort of tribute or celebration for any woman around who did something. Gilli was raised up around the town of Sidney and from the moment she discovered that Gilli is Aboriginal-dialect for "moon" it was clear why this woman was going to be known under Gili Moon in the future...a name that would be used for her further career in LOs Angeles cos that's where she actually lives now.  "Vive La Independence" says Gilli cos for her (just as for so many other artists) the internet was a the ultimate way to build her emporium and with success, in Gilli Moon´s biog there was a whole page about prices she has received (too many to mention) and then there is even the music...also too many genres to mention (which we will do anyway) as Gilli is a real musical chameleon and I guess that´s why she has been compared to David Bowie anyway... It goes from genius discopop ("Woman" the titletrack brings you to the genius discopopstuff Madonna did on "Ray Of Light"), intimistic intense pianosongs in Tori Amosstyle (the piano was the basic for Gilli´s musical training), femalesingersongwriterstuff in KD Lang-style or on tracks like "I´m calling you" you hear original trip-hop.... Gilli Moon´s music and this album (which is the following up from "Temperamental angel" is a real victory and the sort of middle finger that can be best used towards the so called recordindustry who knows it all... One of the strongest albums we ever have reviewed and as that are more than thousands you know you have no reason not to dig Gilli Moon....

SPOTLIGHT USA
If you're not familiar with the music of Gilli Moon, there's no better time than right now to introduce yourself to what she has to offer. Her previous release, "Temperamental Angel," was a SPOTLIGHT favorite. But, her current release, "Woman," is a thousand times better. She went all out with this one. There's just a wealth of material to be found here and there's a lot to take in. There's pop, there's rock, there's just a little bit of everything. I mean, as I went through each track, I heard stuff that reminded me of Alanis Morissette, Cher, Tori Amos, Lucy Woodward and the list goes on and on. The thing is though, she's got a sound that's totally her own. This is probably the most exciting album you'll have the pleasure of hearing this year. There's something on here for everyone and, well, let's put it this way, I would go so far as to say this is a MUST HAVE release. There's no question about it. There's no excuse to pass this one up. So, be sure to check it out and, if you're lucky enough to catch Gilli Moon live, she's on tour with Monty Python's Eric Idle. How's that for cool?

REMEDY MAGAZINE Townsville Australia
From the first time I listened to this album I was hooked. I have listened to it so many times I have driven everyone in the house mad. Gilli sings like an angel with the strength of an opera diva. This CD features a fabulous cover of INXS “Need You Tonight” as an ode to Michael Hutchence. The album oozes self empowerment with titles like “I’m Calling You” and “I Think Of Him”.

CITY SEARCH, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
Nancy Sinatra, Neneh Cherry and, er, John Lennon have all had a crack at the title. Woman is Australian singer-songwriter Gilli Moon's stab at what it means, but don't expect the answer in stick figures. "I'm not going to give u the mundane, same old tired norm," she warns on her third LP. "I am a woman. I am complex. I have many emotions, feelings, personalities." The album bristles with them. It arrives on her own label, Warrior Girl Music, produced and mostly played by herself. An atmospheric deconstruction of INXS's Need You Tonight is the only tune not bearing her writing credit.  Like her kindred independent spirit Ani DiFranco, self-determination is a big theme for Gilli Moon. Parallel with the album, she's launching a book. titled I AM A Professional Artist: "an inspirational guide for young artists" making their OWN way in the music biz. http://sydney.citysearch.com.au/profile?id=9281

GIRLFRIEND MAGAZINE, Australia
Vibe: Funky, bright, uplifting
Top Tracks: The exuberant title track, and the groovy cover version of the INXS song "Need You Tonight"!
Verdict: Gilli is much more than your average pop diva - she's a 'SensuArtist' who dabbles in music, dance, painting, acting, and writing! This album celebrates how fab it is to be a woman, and there's something in her intense, personal lyrics for all of us! Musical poetry! In a world of Britneys, "Woman" is a breath of fresh air - the album is still as irresistibly catchy as the best of them - but leaves you feeling just as fab as Gilli is!

Gilli Moon made an impressive album with "Temperamental Angel". The new one is equally stunning and more multifaceted. The slinky cover of Inxs' "Need You Tonight" shows Moon's great voice at its best. She strips away all but the necessary ingredients and makes the song her own.

WOMAN - The only problem with this CD is it’s hard to stop listening! A stellar jump forward from her critically acclaimed “Temperamental Angel”, Gilli’s vocal power & range sets up a palette of texture & color, with her philosophical lyrical wanderings creating a framework for the emotions that flow through the rest of this collection. The radio-friendly title cut is a celebration of womanhood, & the power within. Her cover of “Need You Tonight” brings this classic from the dance floor to the bedroom. Creative arrangements, exceptional piano artistry & a superb band makes “Woman” a CD you’ll want to hear over & over, even if you’re not one! - Review by Jimi Yamagishi

If you're looking for an album to bridge your mainstream friends to better music, look no further. This album is very slick. There is something for everyone, even two remixed danceable tracks for your clubbing friends. There is the not-Kate Bush track, "Organic," the not-The Sundays track, "Tiny Diamonds" and the obligatory cover. This time it was of INXS' "Need You Tonight." Woman is 18 tracks and 62 minutes long and is the album you can buy anyone. There really aren't any weak spots, just a lot of different stuff to listen to.

great music that could rock you, mock you and sock it to you with heartfelt romantic lyrics veiled as poetry set to throb-rock funky soul sister guitars oozing textures like a painter's canvas, kundalini rising basslines and powertripping keyboards ala elton john or billy joel in the early days and those intense vocals that reached out like thing's hand and grabbed you by the throat where you were usually choking back tears...

Among the emerging post-bubblegum backlash of down-to-earth, in-your-face female singer/songwriters is attitudinal Aussie Gilli Moon. Her self-produced Temperamental Angel deals with time and distance, salvation and deception, solitude versus loneliness, and all the other underlying themes of postmodern existence in the big bad city. Moon is a singer/songwriter of the old school. Her lyrics are intensely personal, her melodies either guitar-driven or vocally driven. However, no vocal pyrotechnics or acrobatics are on display; her voice is closer to Gwen Stefani or even Janis Joplin than Tori Amos or Kate Bush. One gets the feeling that the process of creating the album was as much a cathartic process as a creative one. The results are engaging and thought provoking and very easy to identify with. In the title track, Moon sings, "I'm a sucker for conventional romance/And I've never truly experienced the chance/To be treated like an angel." Definitely words that most women these days can relate to. In "Plenty," Moon explores modern misconceptions and revelations about success and wealth, stating, "I'm heading for the land of plenty...maybe if I look around I'll recognize that I've arrived already." On tracks such as "Swimming" and "Disgrace," one can imagine Moon gnashing her teeth in fury and despair. In "Time," she takes a more detached, contemplative tone. One thing is blindingly clear from the first time that one hears the album or reads about its creator: Gilli Moon is in music for the love of it, and she's in it for the long haul. - L. I had a vision. I heard a voice that came from the heavens to offer salvation to the masses. A talented voice that had music with soul, with emotion and that voice belonged to gilli moon .....  gilli moon is an artist with substance, that's for sure and ""temperamental angel"" has been one of the true rewards of my writing career this year.... I haven't been this excited about an artist since I discovered the music of Tori Amos.  read entire review and interview

"I think it's one of the best albums I've heard all year!!!! Congratulations on an amazing disc. I liked Girl in the Moon, but this disc (temperamental angel) shows a maturity of style and voice that's profound. Your new music blew me away.  - An amazingly mature and complex album, Temperamental Angel speaks to the bare emotions of love, hate, empowering sensuality and hand-tying vulnerability in all of us..... her whispery, lilting upper register brings to mind a young Kate Bush, mixed with the angst of Alanis Morissette.. Temperamental Angel delivers with a wide swatch of styles and confessions...

On her latest album, moon broadens the boundaries of musical structure and sonic soundscapes with an approach that Patti Smith and Sonic Youth would appreciate. Combining poetry with techno rock, she explores a plethora of emotions and styles. From a spoken-word intro to her use of exotic instrumentation, the songs are eye opening. This is an album that encourages repeated play, as the listener discovers new surprises on every track.

Gilli Moon delivers her progressive pop/rock style with a unique diversity in style and expression. By her creation, Gilli has allowed the listeners of her music to paint worlds of imagery with their minds. Amazing songwriting and vocals that purr like a kitten and growl like a lion. This music is powerful and presents a feeling of awe. The lyrics are unlike any that I've heard from a pop artist, and tell me that Gilli Moon is more about art and presenting her passions than creating die cut pop songs. That being said, this music has a lot of mainstream pop potential, but with a different kind of charm. I wouldn't mind hearing more music of this nature taking over the mainstream. I prefer Gilli's more intelligently written songs of the pop styles though. All in all, this is music that you won't soon forget. It's definitely made it's mark here.

"Moon's music has a pop sensibility overlaying a folksy base; and infused with powerful, heartfelt lyrics. For those familiar with the music of Beth Orton, gilli moon's music is in a similar vein but without Orton's trip-hop influences."

gilli moon doesn't like to capitalize on herself. Perhaps a small g & m is proof of an upcoming star who doesn't want to inflate her ego now that she's infiltrating Californialand. And an invasion it is. Having moved from Australia where she studied classical piano and hit the stage in musicals like The Wizard of Oz, after only a couple of years in CA, she's got a few songs in films, has won awards, and has kicked open a slice of online presence for herself that's winning her global fans as well.

One of the awards comes from The Netherlands Song Expo, where 'Plenty' won 1st place. Good thing it's being sent around as one of the early singles from this disc, because it Is a little bit of heaven. Strong guitar. A pop formula that has worked well from Abba to McCartney, it is Instantly hot and memorable, helped on by gilli's rather helpless girlie voice that just makes you want to stand up to anyone who's pitting wits against her. 'flying, over oceans of empty silence. floating in my dreams I'm my own innocence. will I find my arrow where I aimed so high and mighty, and my dignity?' Yes.

There's something distinctly Bowie-driven about this one. Like listening to a female Scary Monsters, with a dose more vulnerability and greater sound from the backing players. gilli is a fine poet, everything stems from that growth. 'u don't control me, my creativity it's my own mystery your lack of synergy so don't suck me into the vortex 'cause it's just sex and I'm tired of playing games.' This is 'Disgrace', one more reason she's just a temperamental angel in a down to earth world that doesn't believe in susceptible mindframes. The music keeps pounding, the static cling floats thru this life, the electronic hums seek out reception of a better terrestrial sphere.

'Why Do You Love Me Still?' is like listening to a beautiful, heartfelt musical ballad sung on the fire escape, as an ambulance or something passes for a few bars in the background. This one certainly proves that gilli would be great in Rent, or maybe Jeckyl & Hyde. If she ever feels like taking a pay cut, go to Broadway, girl. Or write your own show. Because Still is a pleasure, drunk horns and all.

This moon blends like a peacock. You wonder at the beauty of all those colors, but somehow, you couldn't imagine what she would look like without all musical hues. Interesting, and utterly arresting.

Her talent is really showing off on this CD. This album can easily be compared to the best works of Tori Amos or Natalie Imbruglia. It's a very adventurous CD with a crystal clear production by Evan J. Beigel and gilli moon. The strength of this CD is the variety. There are firm, sharp rockers and sensuous ballads. The title track is a rocking mix of Heather Nova and Kate Bush while "Plenty" is a stubborn kind of fairytale rock with sharp guitar riffs and temperamental vocals. "Disgrace" has some T.Rex influences with cutting and bubbling synthesizers. A mean, bitchy song. The sensitive side of this temperamental angel is to be heard on tracks such as the dreamy, sensual ballad "Naked" with its lazy buzzing bass. Gilli sings "I like getting naked with you" and who am I to disagree? "Time" is a light-funky pop song, a potential hit record, mixing influences like Alanis Morrisette, INXS and Crowded House into a hot funky track. "Swimming" is a Tori Amos-alike piano ballad with lots of emotion. "Why Do You Love Me Still?" features a very horny trombone solo. Some of the songs just settle in your head and you walk around humming them for days. gilli moon deserves to become just as big as the (sometimes) overrated Tori Amos.

... it’s like reading a collection of short stories about different aspects, fragments of and journeys within the author’s life. ... blown away by the ferocity of the mood-swings. ... Communication, we’re given a sense of Pink Floyd’s One Of My Turns ("The Wall" 1979) where there are two characters: one of which is talking but the other doesn’t seem to be in the same room. Then we’re introduced to gilli’s inimitable singing and songwriting style in the title track: Breathy, sultry vocals: a cross between Nicholece K Garner & Tori Amos. The mood then flows through love-of-life (Plenty), the expression of unbridled sexuality (Naked), through the heart-stabbing pain of Swimming, the pure-hate of Disgrace, the musical tug-o-war around the emotion of the Why Do You Love Me Still, the "early-stages in the relationship/‘love makes you croon to the moon in June’/there will be no end/this is the one" love of Touch Me to the swirling, almost Phantom Of The Opera/ENZSO balladic instrumentation Alive to close. Aussie export Gilli Moon was among the talent at the Lounge 88 with California guest Terri Di Marco. Between the vocals, keyboards and guitar, this duo doesn't need any additional instrumentation to showcase it's fundamental and obvious songwriting skills. Terri's guitar work added some fabulous rhythm and active melange with Gilli's smooth keyboard sounds. Gilli's artsie "Temperamental Angel" is an extension of her visual arts creative nature. A combo of sensual vocals and hot tune this particular song is sure to gain much attention. Great dance tunes. Hit the floor Jack!

A great and expressive voice, her album is pop rock, melodic, aggressive, a music and visual artist...

FEMALE MUSICIAN
Raised in Australia's bush, where she taught herself music under candlelight and solar energy, one can say that gilli moon is a warrior. Singing of both angels and devils, this young woman is an intriguing mix of innocence and knowing. Her latest CD, "Temperamental Angel" accosts the listener with the spoken word piece, "Communication." Here gilli speaks of the complexities of the  human spirit. "My music and art express the uninhibited me," says moon. With that in mind, gilli chants, "Ease yourself into my shape," over a snaky bass groove on the super sexy "Naked". Closing the CD is "Alive", an introspective song with shades of Kate Bush. gilli moon is a truly independent artist. She writes and produces her own music and distributes it online and in selected retail outlets. Gilli is also instrumental in the Los Angeles songwriters association, Songsalive!. Her website is informative, artistic, and professional looking. For more on this versatile artist, go to her site at www.gillimoon.com.

gilli moon's second album opens with a spoken word piece that's reminiscent of Laurie Anderson. Then the rest of the record unfolds and reveals itself to be a unique mix of accessible hooks, passionate vocals and heartfelt lyrics. Moon effectively captures a variety of moods with her music. The title track has its fair share of Alanis Morrissette's explosive nature. By contrast the ballad "Why Do you Love Me Still?" is tender and sweet and should top the lists in a fair universe. She's an intriguing new voice to listen out for.-Anna Maria Stjärnell www.collectedsounds.com

The album "Girl in the Moon" is the perfect blend of charisma and passion. Featured on the CD is "Didgeridoo Dreaming", which is full of lush synthesizers and pulsating bass and percussion.  The song "Walk Away" is a bittersweet breakup ballad that contains the phrase, "I crashed down to the ocean floor- my mistake".  gilli isn't always introspective however.  Taking a funky turn, "I Believe in Love" shows off gilli's sensuous voice. gilli moon was born in Milan, Italy, but grew up in Australia.  At age five she took up classical piano, and by fifteen, she was on her way to becoming an accomplished songwriter.  gilli's songs have been featured worldwide in TV, film, and theatre.  She is now based in L.A., where she was acknowledged as one of the Top Unsigned Artists of Southern California.

"Girl in the Moon", with its sinuous bassline and exotically crooned chorus ("the girl in the moon/she's fallen in love/the girl in the moon/coming out of the dark/the girl in the moon/has captured your heart") captured my ear... Girl in the Moon is a sleek, sensuous album that serves as a great showcase for what may well be the "next big thing".

"I just received your Girl in the Moon.. I’m happy to say that your CD is one of those CDs that I just keep listening to all day, every day. It’s very catchy.
