"Staying Home" with performer gilli moon
Q. Mixing music with art is a concept you've been credited with starting. What inspires you? A. Expressionist painting had always been a private passion until my bass player suggested I sell some of my paintings on tour. I thought I'd take it a step further and bring a glass canvas on stage and add an extra visual dimension to the performance while there's a guitar solo. Millions of girls prance around the house with fantasies of making like Madonna on screens and stages worldwide. The brutally challenging journey toward achieving that goal defeats most, however, and they move on to less public endeavors. But for Australian pop artist Gilli Moon, the journey IS the goal.
REAL AUSTRALIAN "SURVIVOR" MAKES HER MARK ON MUSIC INDUSTRY by Athena Schaffer, U.S.A
Dreams of stardom are elusive even to lifelong residents of "music industry cities" such as New York, Los Angeles, or Nashville. But imagine having that dream sparked while growing up in the Australian wilderness. The cards would seem to be stacked against that person. But Australia's Gilli Moon did just that, and beat the odds. gilli moon chats about her life as a music artist and her new album Temperamental Angel.
"My last album wasn’t able to be released and I walked away from that without anything." - gilli moon by Peter Gleeson "This Aussie babe is one hot mama against a naked mic. A few awards, some chart-topping, a little MTV gigging, and now a new cd in the frying pan, this Warrior Girl is gently clawing her way to the top of the music biz. Will she slip or will she dig in? Let's ask her."
