From those in lovely Italia... an Italian review In the beginning a little introduction about you...how is born in you love for music? I have been playing the piano since I was 4 years old and I always wanted to be on the stage since a child. It was a natural thing. ...and how is Gilli Moon project born? I began writing songs at 16 years old and then about 8 years ago I began to perform my original songs on stage. Which have been the most important musical experiences in the past? Coming to Los Angeles from Sydney... a long way! I have won several songwriting awards and released 2 Cds. But every day has been important to me. Your cd "Temperamental Angel"...what do you want to express with it and with the songs in it? Temperamental Angel is about expressing emotion, passion and my true feelings. The album is all about me and my reaction to the world and people. How would you like to describe your kind of music? It's pop but with an edge. A little alternative. Some heavy rock songs, some soft, sweet ballads. Very piano and guitar oriented. ...and which is the song that describes you in the best way, the song you recognize yourself in...? That's difficult to answer because each song is a little of me in different moments. My angry moment, My passionate moment. My sad moment. My joyous moment. But "Alive" is certainly where I feel the most today. That's a joyous moment! Where do you take subjects for your songs from? Directly from my personal experiences, relationships and feelings. Which are your musical models and which kind of music do you listen to in this period? My icons are the greats from the Motown era, like Gladys Knight, Al Green, then Steview Wonder and Michael Jackson. I also love today's music, from Alanis Morisette, Sting, Dave Matthews, Seal and MAssive Attack. I also love World Music from Asia or Africa. I'm rather ecclectic in my music tastes. I even adore classical music and played Beethoven and Bach as a child. How much are "live - shows" important for you? Very, for my own personal artistry. I enjoy performing for an audience and getting their reaction. You're also a visual artist, and I've read about a "multimedia project"...do you want to tell anything about it? I paint on stage, my web site is very interactive. I plan to write a film script on my experiences and I'm working on an animation of my Warrior Girl concept. How much is it difficult to stand out in Usa? and what must a singer or a band have to be successful? It's a lot of competition here. You must have determination and not give up. You must also believe in yourself alot and not let others dictate how you should be or act in order to succeed. Touring, college radio, developing a fan base, is very important for an independent artist. What do you know about Italy and could we see you soon here? I was born in Milano. My father was born in Rome. I love Italy. I spent 3 years living there, although the rest of my life I grew up in Sydney, Australia. My real family name 'Aliotti', is from the Toscana region. My grandmother lives near Venice and I try and visit her often. I've never toured Italy. I would love to, and release my record there. (currently available at www.gillimoon.com or www.amazon.com Your relations with Internet... The internet is a VERy important tool for any artist. For me, I have gained fans from around the world and I touch hearts with my web site. I have connected with other artists and am strategizing my U.S tour from contacts I've made on the internet alone. Next projects... New album next year, a film, a musical, and creativity for ever!
