The Only Official Fan Club & Newsletter) The Estate of Jeff Buckley announces the debut of PEYOTE RADIO THEATRE on http://www.jeffbuckley.com. Gilli Moon is a PRT featured artist Gilli Moon “Woman” Warrrior Girl Music BY CAROLINA BERTRAND Music Editor/JBIN Complex is first word that comes to mind when considering Hollywood artist and producer Gilli Moon: songs of being a child by an all-woman chanteuse, a singular warrior over the industry who remains quietly sensitive, and a dynamic performance artist who paints as brilliantly as she sings. Moon is writing, performing and producing music that is a fresh, weaving mix of rock, soul, pop and jazz with an old world style of theatrical, diva skill. Listening to her latest CD, “Woman,” you’ll find the torch song of “The Seducer,” the jazz of “Secrets,” the sexy pop of “I’m Calling You,” the simple folk twang of “Damaged and Broken.” If you are fortunate enough to hear them live, you get all this while she is painting with oils on glass, singing and playing piano. “My live performance art I call "SensuArt". I started it about 2 years and it's become a movement in Hollywood. It's where I combine all the senses on stage in a performance to give the audience more stimulus than just music We as artists on stage are there to ENTERTAIN. For me, I like to dabble in paint and I have created a large glass canvas where I splash paint on it while the band is playing a solo. It adds dimension to the music, allowing us to "see the music" and my expression, not just hear it.” The Italian-born, Australian-raised Moon has no fear of the stage, or of taking on some nearly taboo concepts in our culture such as the “complex woman.” She shows her weaknesses in lyrics, yet also demonstrates that “complex” can incorporate great strength. “I will say that women have come to a stage where we are taking A LOT on. We want both career and family, and we lead very stressful lives. What we need, however, is understanding, from men and from society. We can all do this together. Women need to be acknowledged for their new strength, but at the same time, their beauty. Yes we are complex, but I'm also ready to support a man who finds it hard relating to women these days. I write songs so that we are understood and can be loved for who we are. In return we have so much love to give.” A self-produced record and career are startling accomplishments in the continued age of corporate rock, and Moon isn’t shy about discussing her start in the business and evolvement into an indie artist of note. “I began by looking for someone else, "them, they, the others" to come along and make it happen for me. Most young artists live in this illusion. I thought "ok, I have talent, they will come." The reality is, we can't wait around for others to make it happen for us.. I began doing demos with producers but after spending thousands at a time I was still never satisfied with the end result. I also was signed to a label for a few years. Still... I became frustrated because I could not follow my true creative path and what my soul was telling me. It was only when I formed Warrior Girl Music 3 years ago and began producing my music (some tracks with co-producers I trusted but most just me) that I came into my own. I began to trust my own musical instincts and it has proven to right path for me. “I was recently written up alongside Aimee Mann for succeeding without a major label, plus I've become somewhat well known as an author (my book is "I AM a Professional Artist, the Key to Survival and Success in the World of the Arts"), motivational speaker and musician who empowers other artists to do it the indie way.” What does this motivational woman believe that you need to know? Passion. “My message is simple: be passionate about what you do. I believe passion is the key ingredient to life. I also send messages about relating with each other. Men and women often have communication issues where they don't understand each other. Relationships are so important and how we communicate to each other is integral to understanding and respecting each other for who we are. I, like all of us, have had my fair share of relationship problems and I search for love, like all of us. By being open and honest, with direct communication and understanding, can we truly create deep and meaningful relationships. By acknowledging we have various guises and personalities (masks we wear), knowing that all of them are "who we are", then we can be accepted among others.” Moon can sum up the message she brings to you in five words. “TAKE ME AS I AM.” For more on this dynamic, wonderfully complex artist, go to her website Connect with Jeff Online at: www.jeffbuckley.com
